SUMMARY:2024 IFPA NACS New Hampshire Open Championship
DESCRIPTION:Tournament Details\n\nJanuary 18th\, 2024 at the Lower Playfield in Goffstown NH.\nOpen to the top 16 confirmed qualifiers in IFPA NACS NH State standings.\nDoors and start time: 10:30\, Start Time: 11 AM.\n\nThe Lower Playfield is proud to host the 2024 NACS Championship for NH. While we are hosting this tournament\, we are not directing this tournament. If you have questions\, please reach out to Brian O’Neill\, IFPA NH State Rep. \nFacebook Event (official tournament link) \nDoors: 10:30am\nStarts at 11am \nPlayers will be placed in a single elimination bracket once the seedings have been completed. \nFirst round pairings are as follows: \n1 vs. 16\, 2 vs. 15\, 3 vs. 14\, 4 vs. 13\,\n5 vs. 12\, 6 vs. 11\, 7 vs. 10\, 8 vs. 9 \nSecond round pairings are as follows: \n1/16 winner vs. 8/9 winner\, 2/15 winner vs. 7/10 winner\,\n3/14 winner vs. 6/11 winner\, 4/13 winner vs. 5/12 winner \nThird round pairings are as follows: \n1/8/9/16 winner vs. 4/5/12/13 winner\,\n2/7/10/15 winner vs. 3/6/11/14 winner \nFourth round pairing are as follows: \nTwo winners of round 3 play for the State Championship\nTwo losers of round 3 player in the Consolation Final for 3rd/4th place. \nEach match will be a race to 4 wins (unless a match is tied 3-3 after 6 games where a sudden death tiebreaker will be played – see below). At the start of the match each player will choose an ‘OLD’\, ’MID’ and ’NEW’ machine. The lower seeded player will choose the first machine\, followed by the higher seeded player choosing the second machine. This picking order will continue until all 6 games have been chosen. A machine may not be picked more than once in the same match. Once a player verbally makes any choice regarding machine or position\, they are locked into that decision. \nThe higher seed will first choose whether they want to start on one of their own choices\, or one of the lower seed’s choices. Position will be based on who originally selected the machine before the match started. The player that did not have the machine as a part of their three choices will have choice of position on that particular machine. The match will alternate between machines chosen by each player\, until all 6 games are completed. Should a player reach 4 wins before all 6 games are completed\, no further games should be played. If the higher seeded player chooses to start on one of their machine choices\, they will choose game number 1\, 3 and 5 in the match (from their 3 picks). The lower seeded player would then be choosing game number 2\, 4 and 6 in the match (from their 3 picks). \nShould the match be tied after these 6 games\, the match will move to ‘Sudden Death’. This will be a single game where any of the remaining machines are available to be chosen. The higher seeded player will have choice of machine or position for this ‘Sudden Death’ game. \nEach player will have the opportunity for 30 seconds of practice time before starting every game of every match. This is to ensure that both players have a chance to get familiar with the machine. \nThe winner of the match advances to the next round\, while the loser is eliminated. \nThe 3rd/4th place Consolation Final will be played as a best-of-three instead of a best-of-seven like all other rounds\, using the same rules. It is up to the IFPA State Representative as to whether matches will be played out to determine 5th through 16th (or 24th) place. \nPlanned Lineup (subject to change): \nOLD:\nVolley\nGrand Prix\nFathom\nLaser Cue\nMedusa\nMeteor\nMystic\nSorcerer\nTrident\nWild Fyre Reignyted \nMID:\nAttack From Mars\nCirqus Voltaire\nGame of Thrones (Premium)\nMetallica (Pro)\nThe Walking Dead (Pro)\nTheatre of Magic\nTron: Legacy (Pro) \nNEW:\nFoo Fighters (Pro)\nIron Maiden (Premium)\nJurassic Park (Premium)\nRick and Morty\nRush (Pro)\nTotal Nuclear Annihilation

SUMMARY:Friday Night Flips Episode 11: Granite State Rematch
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Flips is a series of 4 player match play get togethers at The Lower Playfield. 4 players will compete on the games downstairs in 4-2-1-0 matches until a player hits 21 points. They will be the winner! Each player will put in an ante to the match and the winner goes home with it all. Learn more about Friday Night Flips and watch past episodes on our dedicated Friday Night Flips page. \nAll the fun of the Lower Playfield\, now available wherever you are! All the action will be broadcast on Twitch at twitch.tv/TheLowerPlayfield starting at 7:00 PM. \nEpisode 11: Granite State Rematch\nAs pinball playing hopefuls all get ready for the return of IFPA North Americas Championship Series in January\, we bring you the kind of matchup that Friday Night Flips was originally conceived to bring you: a return of the top 4 finishers from 2023 New Hampshire states finals. Held last January at Port City Pinball\, a rematch a year in the making: \n\nDerek Correia finished last year’s NH states in 4th place\, after losing to Zheanna for the third straight year\, then Brian in the 3/4th match. He is one of the owners and operators of The Lower Playfield\, and is excited to have this as a break in to prep for States in January.\nZheanna Murray is 2023’s runner up for NH State Champion. A fantastic player with wins all over New England\, she will be looking for another win before 2024 States.\nBrian O’Neill is a former state champ\, proprietor at Port City Pinball\, a multi-time TLP tournament winner\, and the 3rd place finisher in last year’s state championship. Brian is always a threat to win any matchup he is in.\nJill Towne may not be known as well as the runner up outside New England\, but here she is known as a top player with fantastic control skills and game knowledge. She is the reigning state champion who will be gearing up to defend her crown\, as well as prepping to run WNACS the day after NACS states.\n\nOn commentary: \n\nJordan Knights joins the booth for the 5th time\, to bring deep insight in the collection at TLP.\nWill Parks has graciously decided to call this matchup\, his 6th appearance calling Friday Night Flips.

Yep\, 2 years of the Lower Playfield! It’s hard to believe\, right? I mean\, who knows how long this will keep going\, so let’s celebrate with a pinball party! \nPlayers should be ready to do a lot of ballin’\, as we’re bringing back Flip Frenzy! Two players play on a random game of all the games at TLP head to head! Player 1 will log the results (who won/lost) at the central computer at the bar\, then be told who their next opponent is! After playing 2 games\, take a short break in the queue for a few minutes until your next game! At the conclusion\, the top 16 will move on to a final\, and the bottom 16 will also move on to a final! Ties will be broken by win differential\, followed by most wins. Anyone tied in differential on the line between the two finals will play a tiebreaker on Meteor. Highest Seed will have choice of order for all 3 games\, followed by second highest seed\, and so on. The top 2 players from each group will go on until we reach the final 4\, and those 4 players will get cash prizes! \nNot in the top 16? You also make a (non-IFPA results-changing) playoff! These players will compete in a head to head bracket where the higher seed will pick a game not in use from the other finals or play order. The winner of that game will progress on in the bracket. The top 3 players in the Not-Top16 bracket will ALSO get a cash prize! \n3 participants will also win a special prize: a numbered print of our 2nd anniversary poster designed by artist extraordinaire\, Jeff LaChance! Opened in 2023\, Port City Pinball has quickly established itself as the place for competitive pinball events not only in the Seacoast region\, but for players around New England that are serious about tournament pinball. In addition to hyper-competitive multi-day card tournaments\, PCP also runs smaller\, single day tournaments and a league that’s become very popular in short time. Joining us tonight from PCP are 4 players and two commentators — I’ve asked Brian O’Neill to help me introduce everyone to you: \n\nCody Erickson – NextLevel HVAC. The coolest cooling guy. When he’s not fixing your A/C\, you can find “AlwaysAngry” high scores posted on your local Jaws.\nSeth Gouin – Flannel. Lumberjack. Or tree guy. Loves to chop wood on Addams Family. 4th place Classics finish at the recent New England Pinball Championships.\nJeff Pinard – The Switzerland of pinball drama. His daughter beats him regularly…. at pinball. Collected every iteration of Gottlieb Hot Shot (Big Shot – 2 player\, Pro Pool – Add a Ball). Winner of Project Pinball raffle\, Godfather CE.\nBrian Yurick – Proprietor of Port City Pinball. Expert at recapping power boards. Star Wars enthusiast and a disturbing appreciation for Episode I. Likes to cook but not when there’s too many of them in the kitchen.\n\nOn commentary: \n\nAllison O’Neill is an owner operator of Port City Pinball\, an accomplished pinball player\, the only person I’m aware of to get Portal on Powerball Tron\, and the recent winner of the Extra Ball Battle Strikes event at the Pinball Co-Op.\nBrian O’Neill is an owner operator of Port City Pinball\, an accomplished pinball player\, has not made it to Portal on Powerball Tron\, and the recent winner of the Extra Ball Battle Main event at the Pinball Co-Op.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Flips Episode 8: Man\, It's a Hot One
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Flips is a series of 4 player match play get togethers at The Lower Playfield. 4 players will compete on the games downstairs in 4-2-1-0 matches until a player hits 21 points. They will be the winner! Each player will put in an ante to the match and the winner goes home with it all. All the action will be broadcast on Twitch at twitch.tv/TheLowerPlayfield starting at 7:00 PM. \nEpisode 8: Man\, It’s a Hot One\nThe heat is on! The summer might be hot\, but this matchup for Episode 8 is even hotter. To paraphrase the great poet Rob Thomas\, Man\, we have a hot one for you tonight. Competitors known where they play and around New England as some of the best players around collide to see who will take down this episode: \n\nNoah Crable is known in New England as one of the most skilled pinball players in the region\, cracking the top 1000 in IFPA ranking in 2024 with his focus on competitive tournaments. He’s also known worldwide as the author of many a rulesheet on TiltForums as CaptainBZ\, and on Kineticist for his tutorial guides.\nJoe Hinkle joins Friday Night Flips as a two-time tournament champion at the Lower Playfield\, recent VP helping keep players informed at NEPL\, and riding high from a recent top 8 at PinMaine-ia. A longtime friend\, Joe is a super nice guy who puts a smile on the faces of everyone he plays with — but don’t let that kindness fool you\, he’s an incredible competitor.\nMichael Sandler is a well known player in the Boston-area scene coming off of a strong Top 4 finish in B during the most recent season of NEPL. In addition to being a great player and a great person to be in your group\, Mike is known for his TedX talk on how pinball flipped his life — and if you haven’t seen it\, you should go watch that pronto.\nKenny Weiner is best known in the NEPL community as the league’s “Rules Czar”\, striving to make sure that rulings are correctly applied at NEPL finals. People that have played against Kenny also know him as a tremendous competitor\, and a top 1000 IFPA rated player in his own right. Kenny’s quick wits and sense of humor make him an an endeared competitor at the Lower Playfield.\n\nOn commentary: \n\nDerek Correia is an owner/operator at the Lower Playfield\, and is frequently seen running around and moving the rig around in the background.\nWill Parksis a director at SNHPC\, one of the finest pinball commentators of events in the New England region\, a heckova player\, and kind enough to be the unofficial Voice of Friday Night Flips. We’re lucky to have Will join us for another episode.

\nEpisode 7: Staying Cool\, Daddio!\nThe temps are hot\, the pinball is cool\, and Friday Night Flips is back with a special summer episode to get you through the dog days! A tremendous group of 4 of the nicest folks in the New England Pinball Scene will battle it out. If you’re in a group at a pinball tournament\, these are the people you hope are in your group so you’ll have a fun time: \n\nJulia Barnes-Brown plays out of Massachusetts\, is a frequent player at events all around New England\, and one of the most seasoned players at The Lower Playfield (if we tracked attendence at TLP\, Julia would be in the top 5 easily!). A tenacious competitor\, it has been fun to see Julia’s game improving over the last year to the point where she is a player to be watched in future events!\nAndrew Diorio is the owner operator of Tilt NH\, a business founded in 2024 that offers rent-to-own pinball in the NH area. While new to competitive pinball in New England\, Drew has quickly established himself as an excellent player with solid game knowledge.\nLucas Herter is a seasoned pinball competitor who started playing in New England events in 2021 (and TLP events in 2023!). No stranger to the competitive game\, Lucas will bring excellent game knowledge and skills to Friday Night Flips. Lucas was also one of the winners of an NEPL game raffle! Lucky!\nJordan Knights is an owner operator at the Lower Playfield. It’s hard to believe someone is reading this and doesn’t know Jord. If you’ve been to the Lower Playfield\, you’ll recognize her as “the nice one”. Jord is active in the tournament scene and New England Belles events\, and may have played these games before\, so look out!\n\nOn commentary: \n\nDerek Correia is an owner operator of The Lower Playfield (“the less nice one”) and is filling up space in the booth that could be better used by someone else.\nWill Parks — come on\, you know Will Parks. Will is a director at SNHPC\, one of the finest pinball commentators of events in the New England region\, a heckova player\, and kind enough to be the unofficial Voice of Friday Night Flips. We’re lucky to have Will join us for another episode.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Flips Episode 6: In Da Club
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Flips is a series of 4 player match play get togethers at The Lower Playfield. 4 players will compete on the games downstairs in 4-2-1-0 matches until a player hits 21 points. They will be the winner! Each player will put in an ante to the match and the winner goes home with it all. All the action will be broadcast on Twitch at twitch.tv/TheLowerPlayfield starting at 7:30 PM. \nEpisode 6: In Da Club\nTonight we feature a group of players and commentators that have a connection to the Southern New Hampshire Pinball Club. The SNHPC is in Nashua New Hampshire\, and is a private club and collection of pinball machines that has been operating since 2016. The club has been open to many public events and league nights\, and provides 24/7 access to the collection to the members of the club. They have also been participants in running their own Club Room at Pintastic New England\, and have kindly hosted our custom Wild Fyre in that room the last few years. Many players in New England have had connections to the club\, fond memories\, and funny stories. \n\nMichael Corbett has been involved with the club since its inception\, and currently serves as a Director and Secretary of the club. A frequent tournament player all over the state and New England\, Michael has also participated in the recent IFPA New Hampshire State championships. He’s a strong player with excellent game knowledge.\nAugustus Eustis is currently a director of the SNHPC as well as the treasurer for the club. A seasoned competitive player with over 250 events played including many state championships and majors\, Augustus is a difficult opponent to beat in any tournament or competition he is in. His cats\, Buddy and Louise\, will surely be cheering him on to take the win.\nMike Testa is currently a director at the club\, and is a well known player all over New England. Known for his humor and life of the party presence\, you can always tell when Testa enters the room you are in. Mike has recently begun working on a homebrew machine\, King of the Arcade\, on the Lin Augemented Reality platform\, which was recently featured in the Pintastic Homebrew room in 2024.\nWill Parks is a director at the SNHPC (sensing a theme?) and a frequent guest commentator on Friday Night Flips. In addition to his commentary prowess\, Will is a tremendous pinball player\, winning the Pintastic Midnight Madness tournament in 2023\, and making it to the final 4 in 2024. A TLP regular\, Will has the most familiarity with the games in this group\, which could provide the edge he needs to take the W.\n\nOn commentary: \n\nCody Gamache is a fast rising star in the New England competitive scene\, a veteran of Friday Night Flips (see Episode 4)\, and a recent WPPRMania finalist. This will be the first time that Cody brings his extensive game knowledge to the booth at The Lower Playfield.\nZheanna Murray is a veteran of Friday Night Flips\, commentating on Episode 1 and playing in Episode 4. She is the reigning The Lower Playfield WPPRMania Survivor Series champion. Both Cody and Z had formative experiences getting in to the competitive pinball scene at SNHPC\, making them the ideal team to commentate this tremendous battle.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Flips Episode 5: Back to the Start
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Flips is a series of 4 player match play get togethers at The Lower Playfield. 4 players will compete on the games downstairs in 4-2-1-0 matches until a player hits 21 points. They will be the winner! Each player will put in an ante to the match and the winner goes home with it all. Learn more about Friday Night Flips and watch past episodes on our dedicated Friday Night Flips page. \nAll the fun of the Lower Playfield\, now available wherever you are! All the action will be broadcast on Twitch at twitch.tv/TheLowerPlayfield starting at 7PM. \nEpisode 5: Back to the Start\nTonight we go back — way back. Before Friday Night Flips. Before The Lower Playfield. All the way back to the genesis of all of these things: Pinball with Fudd and Jord\, our irreverent pinball stream that started in 2020 and sent us from having a couple of games at home that we’d share and broadcast online to the full blown problem that is TLP today! In honor of all of that\, we present four players who were very early supporters of our stream during the pandemic times\, and the opportunity for us to bring Pinball with Fudd and Jord to the modern era of Friday Night Flips. You may not know all of these players\, but they’re near and dear to us: \n\nDerek and Ivy Beam are a dynamic father/daughter team who were some of our earliest viewers\, channel moderators\, Twitch stars of the “Friday Night Ivy League” stream\, and are now mainstays of many a Lower Playfield tournament. Derek was goaded by the Other Derek into playing more pinball and it seems to have stuck\, as he has a penchant for blowing up a game while insisting he doesn’t know what he was doing. Ivy has a knack for EM’s and prefers not knowing whats going on\, which is normally when she pushes her scores to the max.\nBarrett Huntress is another early moderator\, viewer\, and supporter who also possesses a Joe Hinkle score of 1*. In Pinball with Fudd and Jord streams\, Barrett is also famous for the Careless Whispers dance. A long time friend of the stream\, Barrett got in to pinball because of the stream and has since logged a ton of FX hours\, in preparation for his recent move back to the area and dreams of TLP dominance.\nRich Lasker\, in addition to being a long time supporter of the original form of the stream\, is the member of this quartet we’ve known the longest. Derek and Rich worked together for many years prior to the pandemic and the start of the stream\, when pinball at TLP went from a hobby to a clinical diagnosis. Along with his wife Jaime and son Ricky\, Rich got bit by the pinball bug over too many beers and long nights of Total Nuclear Annihilation. Rich is responsible for our amazing AFM translite and provides a good retirement home for the ex-TLP Godzilla\, helping it live it live it’s best life.\n\n* The Joe Hinkle Score is a metric similar to Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon in which you try to determine if you know this person because of Joe Hinkle\, if this person knows Joe Hinkle\, or if you can connect them to Joe Hinkle via a series of other people you mutually know. Virtually 78% of New England has a Joe Hinkle score of 1. \nOn commentary: \n\nDerek Correia and Jordan Knights are the owner operators of The Lower Playfield\, and since we’re partly responsible for getting some of these people into pinball in the first place\, it only felt right for them to do commentary for this very special episode.

A private collection of beautifully restored arcade games and a bevy of pinball machines from all eras\, Cosmic Cottage is one of the prime spots to play in the New England Pinball League. From the CCA come 4 players ready to flip their way to glory: \n\nRoss Bergen is the owner\, operator\, repair and restoration mind behind the Cosmic Cottage Arcade. His popular YouTube channel shows a wonderful tour of the space. In addition to being a collector and tremendous restoration expert\, Ross is a fantastic pinball player who routinely is near the top of the seeding lists in NEPL.\nCody Gamache is a quickly-rising star in the New England pinball scene\, with an IFPA ranking shooting up over the past two years to currently in the top 1400 players worldwide. Cody recently finished 4th in WPPRMania 2’s main event\, making him a dangerous foe on copies he knows well.\nIan Hobson is a regular at the Cosmic Cottage Arcade and one of the nicest people in the hobby. His play at Cosmic Cottage will set him up well for competition on the equally diverse lineup at the Lower Playfield\, despite the tough field.\nZheanna Murray is the current WPPRMania Survivor Series Champion\, and the reigning runner up in the IFPA State Championships for New Hampshire in 2023. A skilled and focused player currently ranked 1601 in IFPA ranking\, Z is someone who can get on a roll and beat any player. (Editors note: I have\, as of this writing\, been eliminated from every NH State Championship I’ve played in by Z. I’m not bitter. At all.)\n\nOn commentary: \n\nDerek Correia and Jordan Knights are the owner operators of The Lower Playfield\, and have nothing better to do on a Friday than watch other people have fun and play pinball.

A seasoned tournament player\, Brian is also the 2022 IFPA New Hampshire state champion and the state representative to the IFPA. In addition to her many accomplishments in Pinball\, Zoe also shares an appreciation for well made fast food\, which very quickly endeared her and Daniel to us at the Lower Playfield.\n\nOn commentary: \n\nDerek Correia is an owner/operator of The Lower Playfield\, and got this job by knowing someone.\nWill Parks is the longest tenured (2 episodes) and most seasoned commentator (2 episodes) at Friday Night Flips. Despite not living in the same area\, Will has more fantastic breakfast recommendations in the area than folks that have lived here for 10 years do.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Flips Episode 2: The Flip Zone
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Flips is a series of 4 player match play get togethers at The Lower Playfield. 4 players will compete on the games downstairs in 4-2-1-0 matches until a player hits 21 points. They will be the winner! Each player will put in an ante to the match and the winner goes home with it all. \nAll the fun of the Lower Playfield\, now available wherever you are! All the action will be broadcast on Twitch at twitch.tv/mutterfudder starting at 7PM. \nEpisode 2: The Flip Zone\nIn February 2022\, brothers Tim and Mike Desmarais opened Flippers Pinball Parlor\, a collection of pinball machines inside of Maxamillians in Tyngsboro\, Mass. In very short order\, they built a strong community and loyal set of visitors to their fun leagues\, tournaments\, and game nights. Two years later\, they expanded to a second location: The Pinzone\, a set of machines inside of the Sports Zone in Dracut\, MA. For episode 2\, we’re featuring 4 players who can be found playing at these locations on a regular basis. \n\nMike Desmarais is one of the owner/operators at Flippers and Pinzone\, as well as the site champion for Season 30 in NEPL. In a short period of time\, Mike has become a formidable player with natural talent and questionable rules knowledge (by his own admission!). Mike is never out of a game\, and you can usually hear him laughing\, talking\, or yelling as soon as you step in to Flippers.\nTim Desmarais is also the owner/operator of Flippers and Pinzone. While you might hear Mike coming when you first step in\, Tim doesn’t command the same room presence as his brother. If you’d visited these locations\, you’ll know Tim as a welcoming and generous player who is great to play and talk with. While he constantly says he’s not a “great player”\, Tim’s a skilled player with a steady hand and even temper (compared to Mike!).\nVince Vitiello isn’t new to pinball\, but he’s recently returned to the competitive scene in the time since Flippers has opened. If you’ve played in a tournament in New England in the past few years\, you likely have met him. His calm play belies the deep game knowledge and skill Vince possesses. One of the nicest guys you’re likely to run in to a tournament\, Vince has been on a hot streak of late and is a player to watch whenever he competes.\nMike Brewster is relatively new player to competitive pinball\, getting his start at Flippers in NEPL Season 27. In that time\, Mike has quickly shown to be a quick pickup to the game\, constantly near the top of the results in any event he’s playing at Flippers. Despite being newer to the scene\, Mike is not a player to take lightly!\n\nOn commentary: \n\nDerek Correia is an owner/operator/pinball player at The Lower Playfield. He’s not particularly interesting.\nWill Parks is a rising star in the world of pinball commentary after a tremendous stint doing the play by play for IFPA New Hampshire States in early 2024 on Backhand Pinball. When not playing in events at fun places like The Lower Playfield\, Will can usually be found at the excellent Southern New Hampshire Pinball Club in Nashua\, NH.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Flips: Episode 1: A Brand New Invention
DESCRIPTION:Friday Night Flips is a series of 4 player match play get togethers at The Lower Playfield. 4 players will compete on the games downstairs in 4-2-1-0 matches until a player hits 21 points. They will be the winner! Each player will put in an ante to the match and the winner goes home with it all. \nAll the fun of the Lower Playfield\, now available wherever you are! All the action will be broadcast on Twitch at twitch.tv/mutterfudder starting at 7PM. \nEpisode 1: A Brand New Invention\nThe Ice Ice Arcade is one of the premiere locations in Southern New Hampshire\, hosting NEPL League\, regular tournaments\, and even the IFPA State Championship. IIA and its owner/operator\, Chris Brunette\, were a huge inspiration for building out The Lower Playfield and opening it up to the pinball people of New England. It was only natural that to kick it off\, we had to go to Vanilla to kick it one time\, boyyyyyyye. \nEpisode 1 features four players who frequent the IIA\, playing for bragging rights and to be crowned the first FNF winner. \n\nChris Brunette operates the premiere Vanilla Ice themed arcade in the world out of his home. The Ice Ice Arcade is one of the large\, friendly private venues in Southern NH. An IFPA NH State finalist for the past few years\, Chris is also a skilled flipper. In addition\, Chris also attended every tournament at TLP in year one!\nMitch Gagnon has been playing pinball at Ice Ice Arcade for at least as long as we have. Mitch is an active player\, restorer\, and member of the Auburn Pinball collective. Mitch also has a business selling awesome Vapor Metallic lights (like the ones in our Tron and Rush) blending classic looking bulbs and LED technology (Check out his Pinside shop: https://pinside.com/pinball/biz/directory/2204-mitchell-lighting)\nSam Keogh is the current season’s NEPL site champion for the IIA\, and has also been playing at IIA for as long as we have. Sam has quickly been a staple in the tournament scene all around NH and New England. A prolific player who can get hot and roll through anyone\, Sam is also one of the nicer and more gregarious types of people you like to meet at tournaments\, sharing strategies and having a great time.\nErik Peabody is another player we met playing at IIA after the pandemic. Erik is a master pinball restorer who has won best in category awards at the Pintastic New England shows for his work on restoring multiple machines. Erik is someone with a contagious laugh who you always love being in a group with\, but don’t let that fool you: Erik can play a mean game under pressure!\n\nOn commentary: \n\nJordan Knights is an owner/operator of The Lower Playfield\, and a finalist in the IFPA Womens NH State finals for the past two years. As a participant of many nights at Ice Ice Arcade\, Jordan will bring her knowledge of the players and the games to the stream. And probably lots of giggles as well.\nZheanna Murray has been a high ranked player in the New England area for a few years now. Z is currently the IFPA NH State points leader for 2024\, as well as runner up to the IFPA NH State Finals for the 2023 (Editors Note: I’ve also never beaten her in the IFPA State Tournaments!). She has tremendous game knowledge and is a fantastic commentator.

Thank you for playing in this tournament and helping us to support them. Learn more at victimsfirst.org.\n\nWe’ve heard you — all of you! Holidays are stressful. It’s hard to find time for pinball. “Hey we’d love to do your tournaments but it’s a big time commitment”. I’m with it! It’s hard to find a full day to play pinball\, and with the holidays bearing down like a homicidal MAC truck with a Ringmaster on the front\, who needs more stress. So finally: A quicker\, shorter\, cheaper\, and still a lot of fun The Lower Playfield tournament to wrap up the year. \nHoliday Overdrive will consist of 15 head-to-head games of Max Matchplay — the replacement to the good ol’ Flip Frenzy we used to play all the time! Players will be randomly placed on games against players you hopefully haven’t played already that day for a head-to-head battle. The top 8 players will move on to a 4-player\, 3 game matchplay group scored 4-2-1-0 where the highest seed will have choice of two of the games\, and the 3rd will be a randomly assigned “short play” game. Play continues until we crown a champion! \nDidn’t make the playoffs? No problem! Everyone who missed the playoffs will be put into a head-to-head\, single game bracket. The winner takes home a prize as well! \nWPPR Fiends: This will calculate to 27 TGP\, or 108% WPPR value. The single elimination bracket is not IFPA certified and is just for the prizes! \nThis is essentially the same format as our recently held anniversary tournament\, with a few small changes to keep things moving better throughout the day! And now we know how long these will take: We expect the Matchplay tournament to run 3 and a half hours. The two playoffs will take roughly 2 hours for the top 8\, and about an hour and a half for the single elimination players. All matches should be done by 6 at the latest\, though most play should be done by 5 — plenty of time for last minute holiday shopping! \nPlayers who have Registered (manually updated\, please be patient) \n\nJordan Knights (paid)\nJason Burwen (paid – IOU 20)\nEthan Burwen (paid)\nCurtis Rossi (COD)\nSam Keogh (paid)\nRich Lasker (paid)\nJoe Lemire (COD)\nSeamus Meader (COD)\nAdam Meader (COD)\nVince Vitiello (paid)\nBill MacDonald (paid)\nMitch Gagnon (paid)\nJeremy Gagnon (paid)\nJulia Barnes-Brown (paid)\nSarah Finn (paid)\nMike Gaudet (paid)\nCody Gamache (paid)\nBrian Borque (paid)\nZoë Vrabel (paid)\nDaniel Rone (paid)\nMatt Lemoine (paid)\nColeman Papa-Musgrave (paid)\nKim Musgrave (paid)\nKenny Weiner (paid)\nRoss Bergen (paid)\nGeoff Alterman (paid)\nDerek Beam (paid)\nIvy Beam (paid)\nWill Parks (paid)\nEd Giardina (paid)\nNate Straz (paid)\nDerek Correia (paid)\n\nWaitlist:\n\nEMPTY!!! SUMMARY:Avernursary Matchplay Mayhem All Playoff Tournament at the Lower Playfield
DESCRIPTION:Registration Link: Click Here to Register\nTournament Details\n\nOctober 7th\, 2023 at the Lower Playfield in Goffstown NH.\nDoors at 10:30 AM\, Tournament starts promptly at 11:30.\n32 player limit\nThis event is IFPA sanctioned\nIt’s an anniversary party! Complimentary champagne/sparkling grape juice toast before we start.\nRegistration begins August 29th at noon Eastern time.\n$30 per player ($20 prize pool\, $9 house fee for free play\, electricity offset\, snacks and drinks\, $1 IFPA Endorsement fee) is due via Paypal/Venmo within 72h of registration. Cash at door accepted for players who have played 2 tournaments in the last year here — you must contact Derek or Jordan to make arrangements if you’re paying cash at door or some other way.\n\nCome celebrate our 1 year Anniversary of The Lower Playfield tournaments! Who woulda thunk it — a whole year! Our first tournament was a 16 person flip frenzy — how far we’ve come! Let’s celebrate the past and also farm some WPPRs like we do these days. \nMatchplay Mayhem will will be a head-to-head battle royale. We’ll start with 13 rounds of head-to-head Max Matchplay\, where you will be placed with another player randomly on a game head to head. Once all players have played 13 games\, the top 16 will move on to 4 player\, 3 game match play groups scored 4-2-1-0. Your first game will be assigned as a random “short play” game. The high seed of the group will choose the other two games or position\, with the next highest seed choosing\, and so on. Players may only select a game ONCE during the playoffs. Top two from each group move on to the next round until we crown a winner! \nPlayers eliminated in the Semifinal round will play 1 game for a consolation prize. \nDidn’t make the playoffs? No problem! Everyone who missed the playoffs will be put into a head-to-head\, single game bracket. The winner takes home a prize as well! \nWPPR Fiends: This will calculate to 31 TGP\, or 124% WPPR value. The single elimination bracket is not IFPA certified and is just for the prizes! \nAs for time\, I’ll note we are running tournament types we’ve not run before! However\, we anticipate the Max Matchplay portion to take roughly 3-4 hours\, and the finals to take an additional 3 hours for the main bracket\, and (concurrent with finals) around an hour/hour and a half for the lower bracket. \nPlayers who have Registered (manually updated\, please be patient)\n\nAlan Maclean (COD)\nJoe Lemire (COD)\nZoë Vrabel (paid)\nDan Wilga (paid)\nMatt Lemoine (paid)\nCurtis Rossi (paid)\nSkip Horner (COD)\nBill MacDonald (paid)\nSam Keogh (COD)\nPatrick Countryman\nMichael Lupo (pre-paid)\nVince Vitiello (paid)\nSeamus Meader (COD)\nMitch Gagnon (paid)\nJayme Lindahl (paid)\nDerek Foxwell (paid)\nCody Gamache (paid)\nJeremy Gagnon (paid)\nAdam Meader (COD)\nDavid Foxwell (paid)\nWill Parks (paid)\nJulia Barnes-Brown (paid)\nGeoff Alterman (paid)\nMike Havens (paid)\nMike Gaudet (paid)\nAllison Havens (paid)\nSarah Finn (paid)\nMike Desmarais (paid)\nDerek Beam (paid)\nIvy Beam (paid)\nJames McFatter (paid)\nChris Brunette (paid)\n\nWaitlist:\n\nTom Geary\n\nRegistration\nRegistration will open at Noon Eastern on August 29th\, and will remain open until 32 spots are filled. DESCRIPTION:Registration Link: Register Now!\nTournament Details\n\nAugust 12th\, 2023 at the Lower Playfield in Goffstown NH.\nDoors at 11 AM\, Tournament starts promptly at noon.\n32 player limit\nThis event is IFPA sanctioned\nRegistration begins June 23rd at noon Eastern time.\n$25 per player ($15 prize pool\, $9 house fee for free play\, electricity offset\, snacks and drinks\, $1 IFPA Endorsement fee) is due via Paypal/Venmo within 72h of registration. Groups will be randomly assigned to start\, then fully swissed — keeping everyone in the game the whole way through. Players will break on through to the finals side after hitting 45 points — and the tournament proper doesn’t end until 4 players hit the 45 point target (or 3 rounds after the first player hits the target — whichever comes first). Those top 4 players will play a 4 game final to determine the ultimate winner. Players 5-8 will play a single game to win a small prize. Will your mojo be risin’? Will you light a fire? Can you break on through? \nWe anticipate\, based on past tournaments\, the Matchplay portion to take roughly 4-5 hours\, and the finals to take an additional hour. Cash at door accepted for players who have played 2 tournaments in the last year here — you must contact Derek or Jordan to make arrangements if you’re paying cash at door or some other way.\n\nOur next tournament will be significantly smaller than WPPRmania was\, but oddly enough\, it’s the “Main Event” component of WPPRmania! \nStarting at noon\, we will run 12 rounds of 3 or 4 player Match Play matches\, alternating between games that have historically run longer and shorter (not quite “Moderns” and “Classics”\, but you get the idea). Scores will be PAPA style based on finish (7-5-3-1). After round one\, pairings will continue in a tiered Swiss-style pairing for 11 more rounds. A tiebreak game will be played if necessary to split top 2 seeds or anyone playing into the top 8. Automatic tiebreakers will be used for all other positions. The top 8 players will move on to bank style 4-game\, 4 Player Match Play finals\, with the top 2 advancing to the next round. Players not making the final round will compete in two rounds of stallball for prizes! \nFor the WPPR hounds among us\, this will calculate out to 160% TGP and will be in the neighborhood of 24 WPPRs to the winner. Progressive strikes means you will get strikes for each game equal to the number of players who finished above you in the game (0-1-2-3 strikes for 4 player groups\, 0-1-2 for 3 player groups).
