Classics Concentration Match Play Tournament

Tournament Details

• September 21st, 2024 at the Lower Playfield in Goffstown NH.
• Doors at 10:00 AM, Tournament starts promptly at 11:00.
• 32 player limit
• This event is IFPA sanctioned, at an anticipated 192% TGP.
• 6 Rounds of Classic Concentration Sets (Classic, Modern, Classic) with Tiered Swiss Pairing, followed by top 8 advancing to similar set finals.
• Initial seeds will be IFPA rank to smooth initial groups.
• Registration begins at Noon Eastern on August 31st.
• $30 per player ($20 prize pool, $9 house fee for free play, electricity offset, snacks and drinks, $1 IFPA Endorsement fee) is due via Paypal/Venmo within 72h of registration. Cash at door accepted for players who have played 2 tournaments in the last year here — you must contact Derek or Jordan to make arrangements if you’re paying cash at door or some other way.

Honoring the great Alex Trebek, a tournament with a Classics Concentration. Players will be in Jeopardy as they battle 3 other players in a three game set: A classic, a modern, and a classic! Each game will be scored 7-5-3-1. Rounds continue for 6 total rounds in a Tiered Swiss pairing. After that, the top 8 players will Reach For the Top in the finals, using the same format with 4-2-1-0 scoring. The top 2 from each group will be High Rollers , advancing to the finals to do it one more time to crown a champion.

For the purposes of this tournament, these games will be considered classics and in the “classic” pool:

Players eliminated in the first round of the finals will be Double Dare’d to play a classics ladder of 3 games, with the lowest player eliminated after each game. Those eventually finishing in 5th and 6th will be rewarded as well.

We will run a game of prize money stallball for all before the finals get underway, and you’re of course welcome to stay and play freeplay after the tourney ends for a bit as well!

We anticipate, based on past tournaments, the Matchplay portion to take roughly 5 to 6 hours, and the finals to take an additional two hours. We have similar formats before and feel reasonably confident in these time estimates.

Registration

• Registration will begin Saturday, August 31st at 12 Noon.
• At that time, the registration link posted above will activate. Please open the form ahead of time and refresh the form if you are trying to register at open.
• If you registered and can’t make it, please let us know as soon as possible!
• Once we hit our player cap, we will maintain a wait list and will contact you directly at the e-mail you provided during registration should a spot become available. You aren’t required to pay or under any obligation to attend if you are contacted off the waitlist. If you’re on the waitlist and can no longer make it, please feel free to let us know!
• Once your name appears in the registered list above, please pay your entry fee within 1 week of registration to either:

Prize Schedule

Assuming a full slate of 32 players, the following prize schedule will be used:

• 1st place: $200
• 2nd: $140
• 3rd: $100
• 4th: $60
• 5th: $40
• 6th: $30
• 7th and 8th: $20 each
• $10 of scratchers will be distributed to non-finalists!

One game of Stallball will be run for all participants and will award $10 to the winner, and $10 to the last remaining non-finalist. If that’s the winner, they get $20!
